Education and TrainingApplications for the 2009 Apprentice Program will be accepted during the month of September at the IMI Training facility, 84 Myron St., West Springfield. The BAC Local 1 MA Apprentice Program is a 12-week prejob training program. Students attend school full-time for three months. The application process begins in August each year, when advertisements are published in the local newspapers in our jurisdiction. Applications for apprenticeship can be obtained in person or by mail from the International Masonry Institute during the month of September. Applicants must be 18 years of age. Related Training for Apprentices and ImproversSubmitted by BAC Local 1 on Thu, 2006-09-21 09:02. Education and TrainingRelated Training for the Fall semester will be scheduled soon. Related Training is mandated by the MA Division of Apprentice Training as a condition of Apprenticeship in Massachusetts. All Apprentices and Improvers are required to attend these classes. Lowell and Worcester Apprentices/Improvers Fall classes will begin in September. Classes meet every Tuesday at 5:30 at the IMI Training facility at 235 Summer Rd., Boxboro MA. If you cannot attend, you must notify your Field Representative. Education and TrainingSeventeen new apprentices have completed the 12-week, pre-job training class at the International Masonry Institute in West Springfield. The apprentices began training on January 16, 2006 and completed training on April 7, 2006. They experienced a combination of hands-on bricklaying and blocklaying. The students also attend several hours of classroom work, including scaffold and safety training and completion of the OSHA-10 course in construction. Class instructors were Joe Flynn and Bob Marion. |
